1.6: “Come, Let Us Adore Him”
Monday, January 6
“Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.’” Revelation 11.15* NIV
The term “Epiphany” comes from the Greek word epiphaneia, meaning “manifestation” or “appearance.” It celebrates the revelation of Christ to the Gentiles, marked by visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus. This day reminds us that Jesus is not only for a specific people but for all humanity.
As we ponder Revelation 11:15, we hear the proclamation of the ultimate victory of God’s kingdom. The seventh trumpet announces the arrival of Christ’s reign, a powerful reminder that despite the chaos of the world, God’s sovereignty prevails. In our own lives, we experience “epiphanies” when we recognize God’s presence in unexpected moments—when hope springs forth in despair, or when love prevails over hatred. These instances remind us that God’s kingdom is at work, often in ways we do not immediately see.
Prayer:
Lord, open our eyes to your presence in our lives. Help us to recognize the ways you are revealing your kingdom to us and to the world. May we live as bearers of your light, sharing your love and grace with those around us. We rejoice in the truth that your reign is eternal. Amen.
