12.17: “Come, Let Us Adore Him”
Tuesday, December 17
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is the righteous Saviour, and he shall speak peace unto the heathen.” Zechariah 9:9-10*
The prophet Zechariah offered encouraging news to the remnant of Israel to bring them great joy: a King would be coming, a Messiah who would make all things right. This Savior would bring them long hoped for peace.
During Advent, we, too, think about the coming of the Messiah. There are four primary Advent themes: hope, peace, love and joy. And when we reflect on them, we see they are gifts that Jesus gives us our whole lives long.
Jesus epitomizes love. He came that we might have joyful, abundant lives lived in hope… lived in peace. Jesus’ life is our road map showing us the Way to live.
At Christmas, we think about the sweet baby born in a humble manger. Praise God for the gift of His Son whose love and life lead to the Cross, giving us the gift of hope and salvation: and life forever with Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, We rejoice in the gift of your Son and all that Jesus represents… hope, peace, joy, love… and above all, salvation. May our lives reflect that He is King of our hearts. Amen
