12.18: “Come, Let Us Adore Him”

Wednesday, December 18

“Then shall the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing.”     Isaiah 35:5-6*

In the Oratorio “The Messiah,” Isaiah is represented by the bass singer. He boldly sings about the future glory of Zion to the exiled Israelites.  “They shall see the glory of the Lord, the excellency of our Lord!” (from v2). “Be strong; do not fear!” (from v4).  Throughout Chapter 35, Isaiah provides hope to the people.  It is such an uplifting chapter.

But can you imagine being among those hearing these words from the prophet?  You might wonder who God could send to fully restore those with sensory deprivation. We know that the five senses are the main tools we use to perceive the world. Such miracles might have seemed incomprehensible to them because Jesus had not yet been sent by God.

Aren’t we fortunate to know Jesus through scripture and through the Holy Spirit?!!

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for the gift of Jesus. In this advent season, “Come, let us adore Him!”  Amen
