12.9: “Come Let Us Adore Him”

Monday, December 9

“The Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: Behold! He shall come, saith the Lord.”    Malachi 3:1*

This verse specifically promises a messenger, echoing the prophecy of Isaiah 40:3, God is sending a messenger. The messenger’s role is to clear the path for the Lord’s coming to redeem sinners and restore their relationship with God.  The New Testament identifies John the Baptist as the messenger.

The Lord himself replies that he will suddenly come to His temple which indicates that the Lord’s coming will be a time of judgment and refinement leading to a purification of the priesthood and a restoration of proper worship.

This is a call to readiness, urging people to reflect on their faith and actions as they await the covenant which is the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Prayer:

Thank you, God, for your goodness and grace to all people, and that your grace embraces us as we are and where we are and draws us out to be the people we were created to be.  Thanks be to God.  Amen
