Second Mile Center Kids to Visit!

The Second Mile Center was founded by the Presbyterian Women of Detroit in 2006. It is a Christ-centered community program, shining brightly in one of the most challenging areas of Detroit.  They do a lot for inner city kids – providing a place of hope where they are fed and kept safe.

First Pres has been involved with Second Mile Center for eight years now.  Again this year, we have the pleasure of hosting a group of 12 kids from the Center for a weekend Field Trip to Battle Creek this May 3-5. They will sleep over at our Retreat Center, take a trip to MOO-ville,  attempt an Escape Room in our Youth Center and join us for Youth Sunday worship.  They may even present us with one of their Sign Mime performances.

These kids had to earn the opportunity to come on this outing.  Many have never been out of Detroit.  They are as excited to come as we are to host them.

Volunteer sign-up for activities and food are now being accepted.  Contact Jean Parker.  There will also be a Paper Products drive before their visit so we can stock them up with goods to take back to the Center.
