“Listen to me,… you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Isaiah 46: 3-4
For the first time since the start of the pandemic, I have been feeling a personal sense of darkness and discouragement. At work, there are difficult changes, cumbersome restrictions and magnified emotional problems for the people I serve. On the home front… family members isolating, holiday plans cancelled, winter and shorter days, politics gone bezerk– and a milestone birthday that makes me a “senior citizen” (whatever!).
I’m not alone with these feelings. Could God be calling us to cling to Him and trust Him all the more right now? He is infinitely faithful when we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel!
“When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.” Corrie ten Boom
Heavenly Father, thank you so much for being unchanging while everything else around us changes, and for being our Light in the midst of darkness. We love you and we praise you, Amen.”
