Renewal

May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:5-7

 

Whew! Boxing Day is here! Not a liturgical holiday, of course, but the first day after Christmas day. By now, most of our plans have born great fruit or are on the list for, ‘will try to do better next year.’  That’s life. Special moments come and go, provide meaningful strength and direction for us, and are almost always a mixed bag.

Paul’s letter to the church in Rome is soaked in the ‘What now?’ that God has come among us in Jesus. Who is He? What has He done? In the face of all the ups and downs of our days, we are reminded that God helps and encourages us. Perhaps the best Christmas present ever. And this gift isn’t just for us as individuals but intended to empower us to accept each other as well. The season of Christmas will soon be at an end…but our life in Christ has simply been renewed for another year. God be with us, and help us to extend one another grace, always.

 

Prayer

Let us Pray, Holy and surprising God, in every moment You are faithful. Thank You for special seasons which help us to focus on what matters most. Thank You for being faithful in every season.
