Jesus… The Light of the World
“We saw His star as it rose, and we have come to worship Him.”
Matthew 2:2b
The traditional Christmas carol “We Three Kings” declares in its refrain:
“Star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.”
Stars have historically been used as a guiding path long before the invention of maps, compasses and modern-day GPS devices. The light of this great star, hanging over where Jesus was born, lured the wise men from their eastern homeland to Jerusalem and on again to Bethlehem.
Jesus is the light of this star. Nobody else can be the light. But we all can rejoice in the light, walk in the light, and reflect the light to the watching world.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the beauty of this season — the stars in the sky, the songs in the air. Help us welcome the light of Jesus into our hearts and lives every single day of the year. Lead us to always reflect the light and love of Jesus.
Amen
