Song of Mary
‘Oh, how I praise the Lord, how I rejoice in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl and now generation after generation will call me blessed.’
Luke 1:46b-48
These verses are part of the Song of Mary. Did you know that Mary was only three months pregnant at this time? She must have felt the pain of Joseph initially planning to send her away and knowing the disapproving thoughts of everyone around her.
Yet, she loves and trusts God enough, from her soul, to sing praises of celebration and marveled that God chose her to bring his son into the world. She surely didn’t feel worthy and yet was the chosen one.
How often do we all ‘not feel worthy?’ God sending us his son, through Mary, is an amazing, awe inspiring, show of unconditional grace and love. Like Mary we all need a Savior. God has given us one in Jesus!! Let us each sing praises!
Prayer
Loving Father, I am in awe of Your amazing grace and goodness. The more I try to understand Your love for me, the more I want to glorify your name and worship you. Thank you for giving us your Son, Jesus, as the Savior of the world. I pray that you can use me to share the wonders of Your saving grace to others.
Amen
