12.2: “Come Let Us Adore Him”
Monday, December 2
“The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this is the name by which it will be called: “The Lord is our righteousness.” Jeremiah 33:14-16
Through the prophet Jeremiah, God reassured Israel and Judah of His promises. This prophecy brought hope to a people in exile, whose fulfillment is Jesus, the righteous Branch, who embodies justice and offers salvation to all.
We celebrate Jesus’s First Advent each December during the Christmas season. This celebration reminds us of the miraculous birth of Christ, who came as a humble child, fulfilling the prophecies of old. We celebrate through traditions that highlight His arrival – adorning our homes with lights symbolizing His divine light in the world and participating in worship services that recount His nativity.
In the midst of joy and celebration, we are called to remember the hope He brings and the promise of His Second Advent, when He will reign in justice and righteousness.
Prayer:
Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness and love. We trust in your promises and celebrate Jesus, our Savior. As we await His return, may we hold fast to our Advent faith and hope. Amen
