Our Story
We are First Presbyterian Church - where nobody's perfect and everybody's welcome. We seek to be a fellowship of believers committed to Jesus Christ, firmly grounded in the teaching of the Bible and proclaiming God's love to the world.
We are known for our motto: "A Heart For God in the heart of the City." We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) established May 25, 1883.
We would love for you to join us this Sunday. Our “Full Treasure” worship follows a pattern that employs a unifying historic order, a God-centered celebration, a broad musical range, and use of the arts. Sometimes there is a particular emphasis such as traditional, contemporary praise, or contemplative (Taize´) and sometimes there is a blend of styles.
"Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old" (Matthew 13:52 NRSV).
We usually celebrate communion the first Sunday of each month. It is an open table – all Christ-followers are welcome to participate.
We are located at 111 Capital Ave NE in downtown Battle Creek. Ample parking is available behind the church in multiple lots off of Frelinghuysen Avenue.
Dress in whatever is most comfortable to you. While some will be in a coat and tie or dresses, others will be dressed in jeans or something casual. It's what's in the heart, not the outward appearance that matters most.
