It’s a Complicated World We Live In Today
As I began in prayer to write this devotion, I was thinking about the complicated world we live in. I never envisioned myself trying to run a healthcare facility in the middle of a covid pandemic. I have a responsibility for a staff of 11 and the many patients that I see on a daily basis. My decisions have an effect far beyond this scope. My ego could no longer be part of my daily practice. God has shown me that reliance on him for strength and wisdom was no longer an option for me only when I wanted it. It was a necessity for my survival in so many ways . God continues to work in unanticipated circumstances, never leaving my side.
In reading Jeremiah, I am reminded of the California Sequoia Redwood that I planted by the brook In my backyard. (Yeah right –in Michigan). It is my “Taylor tree”. I planted one tree many years ago for each of my children and now their spouses. “Taylor’s tree” now towers high!
Wouldn’t you know, a video from Taylor showed up on my phone today. (Please click on the link below to hear from Taylor; this “update” was from a year ago. Thankfully, he has made some progress since then. )
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”Jeremiah 17: -8
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, thank you for your continued presence. Help us to keep our assurance and reliance on only you. Please continue to give us strength,discernment, and wisdom to glorify you in everything we do.
Amen.
