JOY IN THE JOURNEY! Advent 2020 Devotional 8

Luke 1:26-38

MAY IT BE AS YOU HAVE SAID
God sent His angel Gabriel to speak to Mary about giving birth to a son even though she was a virgin. As she questioned as to how that could happen Gabriel said “For no word from a God will ever fail”.

Can you imagine getting a message like that! Mary experienced fear, just like we might, but the angel said “do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God”. Mary immediately said “I am the Lord’s servant, May it be as you have said”.

We often get nudges and urges from the Holy Spirit, directing us to certain decisions and actions. It would be easy to question them, but Mary displays what our response should be, “May it be as you have said”.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of angels and the Holy Spirit who guides us every day. May we be quick to action knowing that no word from God will ever fail.
