Talents

“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”  Romans 12:6-8 (ESV)

God has given all of us talents. Obvious talents are singing, preaching, and playing musical instruments. But there are many more talents that are more “behind the scenes” and are necessary to help our church run, and to make the world go ‘round. No one talent is more important than another. All talents are needed, necessary and relevant. God is perfect, and all our talents come from Him.

And most importantly, what does the verse in Romans tell us? It tells us that God wants us to USE our talents, and He wants us to do it with cheerfulness! In the church, there seem to be a lot of the same faces doing all the jobs. It is wonderful that those people are willing to do that, but the danger with that is that not if, but when, they get burned out, then what?  My friends, are you utilizing your talents for your church and your God? Think about it. Pray about it. Sign up today!

Prayer: Most gracious God, we pray that You help us understand our talents, and that You remove any obstacles that may be in the way of our using those talents. Amen.
